Biden Vows NOT to ‘Pardon’ Trump if Elected
Presumptive 2020 Democratic presidential nominee tries to deflect growing scandal
Former Vice President Joe Biden said he would not pardon President Donald Trump if he wins the election in November.
The presumptive 2020 Democratic presidential nominee told MSNBC he would not absolve Trump of any wrongdoing in order to heal the nation, similar to what Ford did for President Richard Nixon after the Watergate scandal.
When asked whether he would diverge from former President Gerald Ford, Biden said:
"Absolutely, yes, I commit," Biden said.
The 36-year senator promised never to interfere in any Justice Department cases, despite no reference to any particular investigation.
"It's hands-off completely," Biden said.
"The attorney general is not the president's lawyer," he added, not citing any particular investigation.
"It's the people's lawyer,” he said.
“We never saw anything like the prostitution of that office like we see it today. It is not something the president is entitled to do: to direct either a prosecution and or decide to drop a case."

Last week, the Justice Department announced it would drop the case against former national security adviser Michael Flynn.
Attorney General William Barr faced a backlash from Democrats who said the move was partisan.
Previously concealed documents revealed FBI agents trapped Flynn.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said he “strongly believes” that former President Barack Obama was behind trapping the former 3-star general.

"I don’t believe any of this could have happened without President Obama,” Paul said.
Biden also attempted to clarify comments he made about what he knew about the Obama administration's look at the foreign dealings of the incoming Trump administration.
“I was never a part or had any knowledge of any criminal investigation into Flynn when I was in office. Period. Not one single time," he said.
Declassified intelligence documents were released on Wednesday, revealing former Obama's administration officials who "unmasked" Flynn.
Bombshell information about Obama admin officials who were behind the campaign to frame former National Security Advisor Flynn came to light.
Flynn's calls with the former Russian ambassador during the presidential transition were picked up in surveillance and later leaked.
Neon Nettle reported the list of names of those who requested the unmasking of Flynn’s name on Thursday.
Biden said on Tuesday he "was aware that there was, that they asked for an investigation, but that's all I know about it" regarding the meeting where he and President Barack Obama "were briefed" on Flynn.
