Rudy Giuliani: Barr Will Prosecute James Comey for ‘Treason’
'I think they have Comey'
President Donald Trump's personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, has predicted that Attorney General William Barr will prosecute former FBI Director James Comey with treason.
Giuliani said Barr is preparing to bring charges against Comey for his role in the recently dropped case against former national security adviser Michael Flynn.
Appearing on The Cats Roundtable radio show, Giuliani told John Catsimatidis:
“I think they have Comey."
In 2017, Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his conversations with the Russian ambassador to the United States.
The Justice Department agrees with Flynn’s attorneys that the FBI interview should never have taken place.
Former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates told Mueller’s team that she and Comey disagreed about how the Flynn case should be handled, according to newly released notes.
Yates said she wanted to inform the incoming administration about the phone calls between Flynn and the Russian ambassador, but Comey pushed back.
Yates admitted she finally decided to tell the White House shortly after Trump was inaugurated and called Comey to inform him.
Comey then “informed her that two agents were on their way to interview Mike Flynn at the White House.”
In 2017, Comey sent FBI agent Peter Strzok and Joseph Pientka to talk to Flynn, later admitting he didn't go through a standard protocol.
Three weeks after Trump’s inauguration, Flynn resigned.
Giuliani described Comey’s actions as “close to treason as you can get."

He also claimed former CIA Director John Brennan "orchestrated" the effort.
“They wanted to take out the lawfully elected president of the United States. And they wanted to do it by lying," Giuliani said.
"Submitting false affidavits. Using phony witnesses. In other words, they wanted to do it by illegal means," he added.
"What is overthrowing the government by illegal means? … It’s treason,” he said.
Attorney General William Barr said he believes that former FBI Director James Comey was the driving force behind efforts to trap former national security adviser Michael Flynn.
Trump echoed Giuliani's and Barr's sentiment last week warning "crooked politicians" and "dirty cops" in law enforcement and intelligence agencies that they are going to "pay a big price" for pushing the Russia "hoax" against him.
Former President Barack Obama reacted to the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) decision to drop charges against former national security adviser Michael Flynn saying he was “worried” there was a risk to the "rule of law."
