Left-Wing Journalist On Tara Reade: ‘I Don’t Want Justice,' Just Beat Trump
Writers responds to NYT editorial board Op-Ed calling for investigation
A far-left journalist has written to The New York Times’ Editorial Board, blasting their recent call for presidential candidate Joe Biden to be investigated for sexual assault allegations from former Senate staffer, Tara Reade.
Last week the NYT editorial board called for the DNC to "investigate the matter swiftly and thoroughly," about the Biden allegations.
Others widely criticized the move in the media.
One such journalist was Martin Tolchin, who responded to the op-ed saying he did not want the truth to come out because beating President Donald Trump was more important than any investigation into Biden.
Here is what Tolchin wrote:
I totally disagree with this editorial. I don’t want an investigation. I want a coronation of Joe Biden. Would he make a great president? Unlikely. Would he make a good president? Good enough. Would he make a better president than the present occupant? Absolutely. I don’t want justice, whatever that may be. I want a win, the removal of Donald Trump from office, and Mr. Biden is our best chance.
Suppose an investigation reveals damaging information concerning his relationship with Tara Reade or something else, and Mr. Biden loses the nomination to Senator Bernie Sanders or someone else with a minimal chance of defeating Mr. Trump. Should we really risk the possibility?
The writer is a former member of The Times’s Washington bureau and a founder of Politico.
Biden was accused of sexually assaulting former staffer Reade in 1993.
Reade accused Biden of inappropriately touching her and penetrating her with his fingers while kissing her forcibly without her consent.
Biden has denied the allegations in their entirety.
“It happened all at once…his hands were on me and underneath my clothes,” Reade said.

“Yeah, and he went down my skirt but then up inside it, and he penetrated me with his fingers, and he was kissing me at the same time, and he was saying something to me."
"He said several things. I can’t remember everything he said.”
A growing amount of female Democrats have endorsed Biden despite the allegations, these include:
- Nancy Pelosi
- Elizabeth Warren
- Stacey Abrams
Warren, D-Mass., expressed her support for Biden on Monday:
"I appreciate the reports of what Miss Reade said," Warren began.
"I saw the interview with Vice President Biden," Warren added, referring to the former Vice Presidents' appearances on MSNBC, where he insisted the incident "never happened."
"I support the vice president, I support his campaign, and I'm proud to endorse him for president," she said.
