CNN Sends Legal Threat to Trump Over ‘American Come Back’ Video
WarnerMedia lawyers accuse Trump video of being 'false, misleading and deceptive'
CNN's parent company sent a cease and desist letter to President Donald Trump's re-election campaign accusing them of using video from their show in a 'deceptive' manner.
WarnerMedia said the Trump campaign used a CNN video in a "false, misleading and deceptive" manner in the legal letter.
The ad in question was the inspiring "American Comeback" video, which they claim is edited to make it appear as CNN's medical expert Sanjay Gupta is praising Trump's policies in preventing coronavirus cases.
The re-election campaign stated they would send more than a million dollars in support of the ad.
According to their demand letter, lawyers argue that Gupta was not referring to the travel ban which Trump issued earlier this year, but rather to "the stay at home orders, the social distancing orders."
The lawyers also add:
"The advertisement purposely and deceptively edits the clip to imply that Mr. Blitzer and Dr. Gupta were crediting the President's travel ban policy issued in January for saving millions of American lives, when in fact Mr. Blitzer and Dr. Gupta were discussing recently implemented social distancing guidelines and stay-at-home orders issued by state and local governments."
The ad notes Trump's s promise in his State of the Union address to defend America from the virus.
The video also notes attacks from Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, and the media after he issued a travel ban against China earlier this year.

It also touts the recovery from the virus as the “greatest comeback story,” featuring the American people working to defeat the virus.
