'We did not need to lose 20 million jobs. We didn’t,' Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said while blaming Republicans

Progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) accused the Trump administration and Senate Republicans of deliberately choosing to make millions of Americans lose their jobs amid the coronavirus crisis.

AOC's accusations against Republicans come a day after she reacted with glee to the news that oil markets plunged below zero, putting thousands of American jobs at risk.

“Mass unemployment was a choice,” Ocasio-Cortez falsely claimed.

“We did not need to lose 20 million jobs. We didn’t."

"We had options and the option that we chose was to do nothing, despite the fact that we could have done something to save millions of jobs in this country.”

“And so, our political leadership, starting right at the White House and paired right up there with Mitch McConnell, said, hmm, we could take bold action right now to guarantee people’s jobs and guarantee payroll in this country, or we can allow mass unemployment,” Ocasio-Cortez falsely claimed.

"And what was allowed to happen, the thing that we chose, not we, but they, chose was mass unemployment, and that is going to take years for us to recover from.”

Republicans have pushed forward on the issue of providing funding to Americans and small American businesses, making AOC's claims false

But Ocasio-Cortez’s claims are inexplicably false.

WATCH:

Republicans have pushed forward on the issue of providing funding to Americans and small American businesses who were facing financial ruin as a result of the pandemic.

Most notably, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's refusal to replenish the small business relief fund, which would help struggling small businesses, caused a backlash from even her own party members.

Rep. Pramila Jayapal admitted Democrats were blocking legislation to aid small business workers for 'political gain'

House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA.) slammed Pelosi’s refusal to past refunding of the small business relief fund, even in the light of the government announcing five million Americans more became unemployed because of the coronavirus.

What's more, fellow Democrat, Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) even admitted that she and her Democratic colleagues have been blocking legislation that would give much-needed aid to small business workers.

Jayapal said the reason for blocking the legislation was to gain "political leverage."

THIS IS WHAT SHE SAID:

Additionally, Ocasio-Cortez reacted to the American oil industry being devastated by the pandemic with this now-deleted tweet:

“You absolutely love to see it. This along with record low-interest rates means it’s the right time for a worker-led, mass investment in green infrastructure to save our planet. *cough*"

It seems that AOC's claim that Republicans are intentionally causing job losses is well and truly debunked.
