AOC Celebrates 'Job Losses' from American Oil Crash: 'Absolutely Love to See It'
Progressive congresswoman salivates over American job losses
Progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) reacted with glee to the news that oil futures plunged below zero, putting thousands of American jobs at risk.
In the now-deleted tweet, AOC said:
“You absolutely love to see it. This along with record low-interest rates means it’s the right time for a worker-led, mass investment in green infrastructure to save our planet. *cough*"
The congresswoman wrote her statement while promoting a tweet that stated:
“Oil prices now at ‘negative values,’ meaning oil producers have to pay people to take it off their hands and store it because when demand plunges (like now), that is less expensive for them than building more storage and/or shutting wells down.”
But AOC faced almost immediate backlash for “cheering” American job losses due to the pandemic.
Political commentator Stephen Miller wrote:
“No one is cheering this pandemic.”

Miller later added:
“You only need thousands of people dead and millions of people unemployed to enact your vision, which is basically what we’ve been saying all along.”

Steve Cortes, America First Spokesman tweeted:
“I look forward to challenging leftists – from AOC to Joe Biden to Andrew Cuomo – to explain their anti-Energy radicalism to voters, especially in places like western PA.”
Jason Howerton tweeted:
“AOC deleted the tweet. Never forget. Radicals want revolution, and they don’t care what kind of unthinkable hell all of us would have to go through to get there.”

The coronavirus pandemic has caused the oil market to drop so rapidly that the world is running out of room to store barrels.
Meanwhile, Russia and Saudi Arabia flooded the globe with excess supply.
That double black swan has prompted oil prices to drop to such low levels making it impossible for US shale oil companies to make money.
US crude for May delivery turned negative, something that has never happened since NYMEX oil futures began trading in 1983.
It was the oil market's worst day on record.
Artem Abramov, head of shale research at Rystad Energy said:
"$30 is already quite bad, but once you get to $20 or even $10, it's a complete nightmare."
Ocasio-Cortez offered zero apologies for remarks, but decided to keep going:
“Now is the time to create millions of good jobs building out the infrastructure and clean energy necessary to save our planet for future generations. For our economy, our planet, and our future, we need a #GreenNewDeal.”
This isn't the first time AOC has been celebrated job losses.
Last year, Ocasio-Cortez collapsed the Amazon deal with New York that cost New Yorkers over 25,000 new jobs.
Democratic socialist Ocasio-Cortez's anti-Amazon rhetoric was widely considered to be a leading factor in the retail giant withdrawing from plan to open a significant campus in the city.
As part of the deal, New York had offered tax incentives to Amazon to build the “HQ2” in the Long Island City neighborhood of the Queens borough.
In March last year, AOC also said American workers should be "excited" about losing their jobs to robots after "being automated out of work."
"We should not be haunted by the specter of being automated out of work," AOC declared.
