Eric Holder: Coronavirus an ‘Opportunity’ to Change Voting System Forever
Former Obama official calls for prepaid mail-in ballots, absentee voting

Former President Barack Obama’s Attorney General Eric Holder declared the wake of the deadly coronavirus had provided “an opportunity” to permanently change how Americans vote.
Holder said the crisis would revamp the electoral system.
“Coronavirus gives us an opportunity to revamp our electoral system so that it permanently becomes more inclusive and becomes easier for the American people to access,” Holder said, according to Time Magazine.
Holder called for a “sea change” in voting systems, allowing prepaid mail-in ballots and unlimited absentee voting.
The move is something many Democrats, including Hillary Clinton, are calling for.
But the former attorney general failed to highlight any concerns regarding voter fraud but asserted exceptions made to the voting process amid the coronavirus should be permanent.

“It would be foolhardy to take these pro-democracy measures off the table after we get on the other side of the virus,” he said.
“These are changes that we should make permanent because it will enhance our democracy.”
Former President Barack Obama also voiced support for mail-in voting along with his wife and former First Lady Michelle Obama.
Earlier this month, the former first lady put her support behind her voting rights group, When We All Vote, to expand vote-by-mail options.
Obama's celebrity-backed organization is set to announce the support for legislation introduced by a handful of Democratic lawmakers during the coronavirus crisis, Axios reported.

The new legislation allows registered voters to vote by absentee ballot, which makes it easier for voters to obtain mail-in ballots.
Twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton also reiterated her calls for voting reform last week.
Clinton said the United States needs to “act now” to ensure citizens can “safely cast a ballot in November."
“GOP officials and conservative jurists forced Wisconsin voters yesterday to choose between risking their lives to vote and being disenfranchised. It’s unconscionable,” she said.
“We need to act now to make sure every citizen can safely cast a ballot in November,” she added.
Additionally, progressive groups funded by billionaire globalist George Soros are pushing for mail-in voting ahead of this year's elections.
Neon Nettle reported Soros' organizations are on the front lines of a campaign to introduce a “vote by mail” system in the upcoming presidential election.
