Coronavirus Killing More Than 1 Person Per hour in New York City
Jump in deaths come as death toll increases to 43 in the Big Apple

The deadly coronavirus is killing residents of New York City at a rate of over one per hour, according to reports.
Fourteen people in New York City died from the virus between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m, as the death total increase to 43 in the Big Apple.
The toll had been 29 before Friday’s increase in deaths.
The reports show the city's single-day toll had hit double digits for the first time.
Dr. Oxiris Barbot, New York's Health Commissioner, warned residents that double-digit daily deaths might well become the new normal, at least for a time.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if we get to a day when we have double-digits new people dying every day,” she said at a City Hall press conference.

The city's positive cases also climbed from 5,151 to 5,683 during those eight hours on Friday.
At 1,750, Brooklyn has the most COVID-19 cases followed by:
- 1,514 in Queens
- 1,402 in Manhattan
- 736 in the Bronx
- 285 in Staten Island
As Neon Nettle reported earlier this week, a large percentage of patients hospitalized after being infected with the deadly coronavirus are young adults.

It has been widely reported that the elderly population is at higher risk of contacting COVID-19 than younger people.
However, a Wednesday report suggested that millennials should start taking the virus more seriously.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a study showing that over a third of patients admitted to hospital are young adults.
The figures show around 38 percent of the 508 patients being hospitalized in the United States is between 20 and 54 years old, the New York Times reported.
Twenty percent of patients, including those in intensive care, is between 20 to 44, the report added.
