Iran has blamed the coronavirus outbreak on America and Jews after the virus claimed the life of the former Iranian ambassador to Syria and also an adviser to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamein.

Iran had pushed multiple reports claiming ‘Zionists’ were behind the coronavirus, according to The Jerusalem Post.

Press TV also quoted the same website that was at the center of an antisemitic article from 2017 claiming: “America’s Jews are driving America’s wars.”

The Post added:

“On March 5, Press TV claimed that ‘Zionist elements developed a deadlier strain of coronavirus against Iran.’ Although the report claimed to reference a foreign ‘academic,’ it fits the pattern of Iran using foreign experts to give the regime’s own views a patina of authority."

Hossein Salami, the leader of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), claimed the virus was "biological warfare” that came from the United States.

“We are now dealing with a biological war,” he said.

It “may be the product of American biological warfare," he added.

As Neon Nettle reported last week, almost 10 percent of all lawmakers in the Iranian government now have coronavirus.

Several key officials in Iran's government have already died.

In recent days, the China-born virus has killed Iran’s former ambassador to the Vatican, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's top adviser, and a recently elected member of parliament.

Iran is facing one of the most significant outbreaks outside of China, where over 80,000 people have been infected, and almost 3000 have died.

In Iran, over 2,300 cases have been confirmed as the death toll approaches 80.

Aside from struggling to contain the public outbreak, Iran’s political leadership is now faced with the coronavirus spread ripping through its government.

Several of Iran’s neighboring countries, including Iraq and Afghanistan, have closed their borders with Iran in an effort to stave off the virus.

Bahrain has gone as far as threatening legal prosecution against travelers who enter the country from Iran and haven’t been tested for the coronavirus after Bahrain’s cases of coronavirus were all linked back to Iran, ABC News reported.
