Donald Trump Jr. Challenges Hunter Biden to Live TV Debate About Their Fathers
Don Jr. offers 'full transparency' to 'show everything' and prove benefits from fathers
Donald Trump Jr. has challenged former Vice President Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, to a live TV debate before the upcoming 2020 presidential election.
Don Jr. laid down the gauntlet during an interview on Sunday, during which he offered "full transparency" and pledged to "show everything" to prove he hasn't benefitted financially from his father's presidency.
In return, the president's eldest son says he wants the same level of transparency from Biden to prove he didn't cash in from his father's vice presidency.
Trump made the challenge in an interview with Axios on what the line of attack would be if Joe Biden wins the Democrats' nomination for president.
“You know what will be great, I’ll let you host it,” he told Axios co-founder Jim Vandehei.
"You moderate a debate between Hunter Biden and myself."
“We can go full transparency," Trump Jr. added.
"We show everything, and we can talk about all of the places where I’m supposedly grifting, but Hunter Biden isn’t.”
Republicans, including Trump, have repeatedly scrutinized Hunter’s lucrative position on the board of Ukrainian gas company Burisma while his father, Joe Biden, was vice president.
The MSM loves making a false equivalency between us, so lets settle it:— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) March 8, 2020
I challenge Hunter Biden to man up & debate me@JimVandeHei moderates. Hunter releases his tax returns & I release mine. Let's have an open convo about who really profited from their father's public office! pic.twitter.com/6N6MObhGhb
“Hunter Biden, his father becomes VP,” Trump Jr. said in the interview.
"All of a sudden he goes over to Ukraine and he’s making 83 grand a month."
Trump Jr. stated Sunday night that, unlike Hunter, he has not profited from his father’s presidential position.
Vandehei pointed out paid speeches given by Trump Jr., and his best-selling book, “Triggered: How The Left Thrives on Hate and Wants to Silence Us,’’ which was published last November.
“I’ve done paid speeches for over a decade,” Trump Jr. shot back.
"I don’t even do the international ones."
He insisted those sources of income are “nothing that I haven’t done before.”
