Whistleblower Who Accused Obama Admin of 'Terrorist Cover-Up' Found Dead

Philip Haney, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) whistleblower and outspoken critic of former President Barack Obama, was found dead on Friday, the local authorities said.
Hanley, who was 66 years old, was found with what appeared to be a "self-inflicted gunshot wound," the Amador County Sheriff's Office said.
The sheriff and coroner Martin A. Ryan shared details of the case:
"On February 21, 2020, at approximately 1012 hours, deputies and detectives responded to the area of Highway 124 and Highway 16 in Plymouth to the report of a male subject on the ground with a gunshot wound," the release read.
"Upon their arrival, they located and identified 66-year-old Philip Haney, who was deceased and appeared to have suffered a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound."
"A firearm was located next to Haney and his vehicle. This investigation is active and ongoing. No further details will be released at this time," the official added.

Haney was reportedly contacted with DHS officials about a potential return to the agency, according to the Washington Examiner.
Haney testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee in June 2016, alleging that the Obama-era DHS had ordered him to delete hundreds of files about reputed associates of Islamic terrorist groups.
Haney claimed that a number of attacks in the U.S could have been prevented if some of the files had not been deleted.

Hanley claimed while writing for The Hill in 2016, that Obama had thrown the U.S. intelligence community "under the bus" for failing to "connect the dots" after a Nigerian Muslim terror suspect was connected to a terror plot which failed Christmas Day in 2009.
"Most Americans were unaware of the enormous damage to morale at the Department of Homeland Security, where I worked, his condemnation caused," Haney wrote, referring to Obama.

"His words infuriated many of us because we knew his administration had been engaged in a bureaucratic effort to destroy the raw material — the actual intelligence we had collected for years, and erase those dots. The dots constitute the intelligence needed to keep Americans safe, and the Obama administration was ordering they be wiped away."
“The network of individuals that we work with were tied to a large group called Tablighi Jamaat, part of a larger group called Deobandi,” Haney said.
“We had thousands of organizations or individuals in the database, and we tracked them as they moved in and out of the United States on the visa waiver program. That’s what first brought the group to our attention.”
“And as we developed the case and started putting the pieces in place, we gain more and more evidence of their activities,” he added.
Haney continued saying the Mosque behind the attack was allegedly connected to the organization that he was investigating.
Hanley urged the Obama administration not to shut down the investigation.
Hanley said that he believed the Obama administration’s decision to shut down his investigation likey prevent DHS from preventing Islamic terrorist attacks on the Orlando Pulse nightclub, the largest mass shooting in U.S. history at the time.
