Maddow Warns ‘Over-the-Top Tyrant’ Trump Will Investigate Democrat Challenger
MSNBC host riles up audience with conspiracy theory

Liberal MSNBC host Rachel Maddow suggested that President Donald Trump could use the Department of Justice to investigate his political rivals in an attempt at reelection.
The MSNBC host also warned that Trump might engage in "dystopian, over-the-top, road-to-tyranny" tactics to win the presidency.
"At this point in the Trump presidency, at this point in the news, what do you really think the odds are that President Trump and Attorney General William Barr won't open up some kind of federal criminal investigation into whichever Democrat Trump ends up running against in the general election," she asked her audience.
"Or if they can't wait that long, if they're too impatient, what do you think the odds are that the president and the attorney general will do something in the primary?" Maddow asked her audience.

"Open up some kind of federal criminal investigation or find some other way to use the federal law enforcement apparatus against whichever Democrat Trump least wants to run against in the general."
Maddow added that America "supposedly learned our lesson" following the Watergate scandal, which plagued Nixon in the 1970s.
But the host said it possible that Trump could "target his political opponents" and "undermine his opponent" in 2020.
Neon Nette reported Maddow's ratings plummeted fifth place in July last year.

Maddow failed to finish in the top three of cable news shows with only 2.487 million total average viewers behind four Fox News programs.
Democrats already accused Trump of pushing an invitation on political rival Joe Biden and his son Hunter by withholding aid from Ukraine.
But the Presdient was acquitted from all impeachment charges the last month.
Earlier this month, Trump's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani said the president should "absolutely, 100%" investigate Joe Biden and his family's dealings in Ukraine after he was acquitted.
Former New York City Mayor Giuliani is advising President Trump not to back away from investigating allegations of corruption involving the ex-vice president and his son Hunter Biden.
