Socialist Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) vowed to cancel President Donald Trump’s immigration policies if he is elected president.

Sanders announced that his first executive orders would include reversing Trump’s immigration initiatives, describing them as “racist” and “disgusting.”

Sen. Sanders wrote on Twitter on Monday:

“My first executive orders will be to reverse every single thing President Trump has done to demonize and harm immigrants, including his racist and disgusting Muslim ban."

Sanders was reacting to Monday's Supreme Court ruling in favor of allowing the denial of green cards and citizenship to foreign nationals who are receiving taxpayer-funded welfare benefits.

The new rule will apply to legal immigrants who have received or are in the process of receiving small amounts of non-cash assistance through Medicaid, food stamps, or housing aid.

Sanders responded following the ruling:

“My father came to America at 17 without a nickel, speaking no English. He grew up to be the proudest American you ever saw. Trump’s policy is disgraceful.

"It is not what America is about. We will defeat him and end his demonization of immigrants and the poor.”

In July last year, Sanders said during the second Democrat presidential debate that he would support health care for illegal immigrants.

When asked about the issue of healthcare and illegal aliens, Sanders said:

“I happen to believe that when I talk about health care as a human right, that applies to all people in this country."

The Democratic socialist added that “under a Medicare for All, single-payer” system, taxpayers could afford it.

Additionally, Sanders has said his 'Medicare for all' plan would help save the US money while costing the American taxpayer between $30 trillion and $40 trillion over ten years.

The 2020 hopeful rubbished criticisms of his plan's feasibility as “absurd,” arguing that it would save money, according to The Washington Post.

"What the most serious economists tell us, that if we do nothing to fundamentally change the health care system, which is what Joe [Biden] was talking about, keeping it as it is, we'll be spending something like $50 trillion over 10 years,” he said.

“Times change, and we have got to go further.”
