President Donald Trump sent a clear message to Democrats pushing gun control in Virginia on Tuesday night, vowing that their gun confiscation plans will never happen on his watch.

The president made the pledge during his January 28, 2020, rally in Wildwood, New Jersey.

The event was packed out with Trump supporters and saw huge crowds gathered outside to wave at the president's motorcade as he drove through the streets of the boardwalk town.

President Trump's supporters started camping outside the event two days before it started, with Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) saying Sunday that 100,000 tickets had already been requested for the rally.

“We will defend... the right to keep and bear arms, which is under siege," Trump declared and he addressed his supporters.

In response, the large crowd began chanting, “USA, USA, USA.”

“In Virginia, they want to take your guns away — it’s just the beginning,” Trump noted.

As the crowd booed, he paused, then added, “Never going to happen as long as I’m President of the United States, that I can tell you.”

As Neon Nettle reported last week, President Trump has sent a similar message to lawmakers in the Democrat-controlled state of Virginia, warning that he will not allow them to undermine the Second Amendment rights of American citizens while he's in office.

Speaking during an interview with Fox News last Wednesday, Trump warned Democrats that a gun grab "will never happen as long as I’m here."

Virginia's state Assembly and Senate came under Democratic control following wins in the 2019 elections.

In conjunction with the Democrats who control the state’s executive offices, Dem officials immediately pushed forward with plans to legislatively impose strict gun control measures upon law-abiding gun-owners in the state.

Virginians have been rising up in response, and on Monday, tens of thousands of gun owners and Second Amendment supporters marched on the state capitol in Richmond in opposition to the coming gun-control measures.

President Trump spoke briefly about the gun-grabbing attempts during a wide-ranging interview with Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo, making it clear that he stands alongside gun owners in support of the Second Amendment.

On January 17, 2020, Trump also made a similar observation on Twitter, predicting that Democrats “will take your guns.”

Trump was speaking out against the coming gun control laws in Virginia, warning that the Second Amendment is "under very serious attack" in the state.
