AOC: Democratic Party is ‘Center-Conservative,' It's ‘Not a Left Party’
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez makes bizarre claim during MLK Now 2020 event
Far-left progressive Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) claimed the Democratic Party is a “center or center-conservative party,” and “not a left party," during MLK Now 2020 event on Monday.
“I wanted to go back to what you said about our left party," Ocasio-Cortez began.
"We don’t have a left party in the United States. The Democratic Party is not a left party," she added.
"The Democratic Party is a center or a center-conservative party. We do not advocate for — we can’t even get a floor vote on Medicare for All, not even a floor vote, that gets voted down," AOC continued.
"We can’t even get a vote on it. So this is not a left party," the Democrat argued.
"There are left members inside the Democratic Party that are working to try to make that shift happen.”
“But you’re right. It does convey a certain sentiment about true believers."
"And there are a lot of true believers in that we can capitalism our way out of poverty in the Democratic Party," she admitted.
"If anything, that’s probably the majority. And that’s an area in which I agree with Dr. King that that assessment is flawed.”
But the congresswoman's claims are a far cry from what she admitted in an interview last October.
AOC said last year that many moderate Democrats declared they are much more extreme in their views than they allow the public to see.

Ocasio-Cortez was referring to the Democrats removing moderate members in an interview with The Intercept.
"When I first got here," she said in the interview.
"Quite a few members told me it's an open secret that the more conservative members of the party quietly support primary challengers to certain progressives as well… so the way I kinda think about it is might as well be honest about it."
Earlier this month, Ocasio-Cortez responded to accusations by a member of congress that she and her fellow cohorts are spreading Iranian propaganda and being Ayatollah sympathizers, by crying “racism."
Rep. John Rutherford (R-FL) called out far-left Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) for falsely calling the drone strike on Qasem Soleimani an “assassination.”
“President Trump recklessly assassinated Qasem Soleimani,” Jayapal falsely claimed.
“He had no evidence of an imminent threat or attack.”
