Young Boy Raises Money By Selling Lemonade to Take Widowed Mom on Date

A little boy from Denver, Colorado, started his own lemonade stand last month to raise money for a date with his mom after his dad died of cancer.
Six-year-old Brady Campbell opened the lemonade stand the day after his dad, Brandon Campbell, lost his battle with cancer at 37 years old.
“My dad and I came up with the idea of a lemonade stand to take my mom on a date because I didn’t have enough money and I wanted to pay, so I did it,” Campbell said.
Brady’s lemonade was an instant success drawing support of more than 75 of his friends and neighbors and attracting the attention fo the Denver Police Department and other first responders.

His first day was so successful he raised $244.
Brady’s mother, Amanda Campbell, described how the community coming together to offer support at such a difficult time.
She commented:
It was amazing.
You could just feel the warmth and energy and such a positive thing in such a tragic time for us.
It really lifted our spirits and really made Brady so happy. Brandon was a savvy businessman and wanted to teach Brady all those lessons, and I could just [see] it happening.
It made my heart really happy.
The word spread so fats that even one of the family’s neighbors decided to help by setting up a GoFundMe page to raise money for cancer research.
Some of the money raised will also go towards Brady’s date with his mother.
The fundraising page has raised a massive $14,066 of its $25,000 goal.
But in two weeks, it raised over $38,000 for the Brandon Campbell Memorial Fund at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and Colontown - a group that supports colorectal patients, survivors, their families, KDVR reported.
“Through that, we can get advocacy out, the word for colon cancer, especially young-onset colon cancer,” Amanda said.
"We are happy through all this, we have brought some awareness."

“I feel like it gives some purpose to such a tragedy.”
Brady’s mother added that she hopes her son gesture will increase awareness and help people living with cancer.
“Through that, we can get advocacy out, the word for colon cancer, especially young-onset colon cancer," she said.
"We are happy through all this, we have brought some awareness. I feel like it gives some purpose to such a tragedy,” she continued.
“Maybe we will have our Friday night date night. Brandon and I used to do that, so I think we will start that and take the time to spend that time together,” she added.
